Mu Pi Mu - 2008 Year in Review
Dear Sisters -
Mu Pi Mu has had a wonderful year!
We won our very first National award at the 2008 National Convention in Scottsdale, Arizona, thanks to the creative genius of Glenda Shaw and our loyal Literary Lyres.
We increased our paid membership from year to year, thanks to the hard work and dedication from our Membership Chair, Sara Myden.
We donated goods and gift certificates to those less fortunate via Haven Hills (a local shelter for victims of domestic violence), thanks to the organization and passion of our newest board member, Heather Barrett.
We have shown through these and many other activities that we are living examples of Alpha Chi Omega's core values of friendship, leadership, learning and service, and no year has that been more apparent than in 2008.
There are many exciting things to look forward to in 2009.
We have special monthly programming that will be new to Mu Pi Mu including a theater night, and an arts & crafts class. We will also have a few returning favorites including wine & cheese night, and bowling with our sisters from the Santa Clarita alumnae chapter.
We will elect a new board of officers in the Spring, who will lead Mu Pi Mu for the next two-year term.
We have a unique and groundbreaking Southern California Province Day coming up - - a Career Day event on Hera Day, Sunday, March 1, 2009! The event is completely free for alumnae to attend, but you must register as soon as possible to Maria Stasi (mariastasi@roadrunner.com). More than 250 collegiate members have already expressed interest in the program, and we need alumnae in attendance who can share their life and career experience with women who are about to enter the full-time workforce.
And last but certainly not least, we will learn more about new opportunities to serve Alpha Chi Omega, when additional plans are announced for the new Alpha Psi collegiate chapter at UCLA.
Indeed, this is a very exciting time for Alpha Chi Omega alumnae in Southern California, and especially in the Los Angeles area! Thank you in advance for your attendance and support of Mu Pi Mu, and other Province-wide efforts. I look forward to seeing what tomorrow will bring! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
